Mr. James Howard, Executive Director of the Black Inventors Hall of Fame, will conduct a lecture describing the accomplishments of African American women inventors and innovators in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). The traveling kiosk spans over four hundred years and chronicles the stories of Black inventors throughout three distinct eras. The Early Era of Innovation depicts the experiences of early enslaved men and women inventors who were unable to patent their ideas due to not being recognized as citizens. The Golden Era of Innovation highlights the significant technological contributions made by individuals such as Latimer, Morgan Carver, McCoy, and Woods, among others. The Modern Era of Innovation showcases turn-of-the-century trailblazers like McKinley Frederick Jones, the inventor of the refrigerated truck, and contemporary innovation leaders like Dr. Nicole Hadiyah-Green and her revolutionary cancer-fighting patent.Burlington County Library System
